Intro

Help Leftie and Rightie catch snowflakes in their winter wonderland!

Let it snow!

Step 2

First things first, start by clicking on your game console to figure out what happens when you press the (A) button. When you’re done, click the instructions icon to come back and learn what to do next.

Step 3

The snow people are trying to catch snowflakes as they jump, but there’s not a flurry in sight.

Let’s make a snowstorm!


  • :paper plane : From ||sprites: Sprites||, drag
    ||variables(sprites):set [projectile] to projectile [ ] from side with vx [50] vy [50]||
    into the empty
    ||game:on game update every [300] ms|| container.
  • :paint brush: Click the empty grey box and toggle to My Assets to add a snowflake.

Step 4

Try your game in the Game Window (Bottom Right)
Go to the Game Window in the editor.


Now we have a game!
But…the snowflakes never reach Rightie. Let’s fix that.

Step 5

Let’s send all of the snow in from the side of the screen.


  • :mouse pointer: Find
    ||variables(sprites):set [projectile] to projectile [❄️] from side with vx [50] vy [50]||
    already in the workspace, and change vy to 0.
  • :calculator: From the ||math:Math|| category,
    drag the ||math: pick random [0] to [10]||
    block over to replace the vx value.

  • :mouse pointer: Change the random min and max to -125 and 125.

Step 6

Well, now the snowflakes only fly across the very top of the screen. Let’s place each snowflake at a random height.


  • :paper plane: From ||sprites:Sprites||, drag
    ||sprites:set [mySprite] [x] to [0]||
    into the on game update container.
  • :mouse pointer: To make sure this block is working on the snowflake, click ||variables(noclick):mySprite|| and change it to ||variables(noclick):projectile|| using the dropdown menu.

  • :mouse pointer: To change the up and down position on the screen, click ||sprites:x|| and change it to ||sprites:y|| using the dropdown menu

  • :calculator: To send the snowflakes in from a random height, drag
    ||math:pick random [0] to [10]||
    in to replace 0 in the
    ||sprites:set [projectile] [y] to [0]||
    block.
  • :mouse pointer: To make sure the snowflakes only fly between the top of the seesaw and the bottom of the branch, change the random numbers to pick from 30 to 80.

Step 8

To make your game even more special, you can add some snowflakes of your own!


  • :bolt: To add more snowflakes to the game, click the Simplified category and drag

    to replace the snowflake in your red set projectile block.

  • :mouse pointer: Click each empty grey box and choose (or draw) a new snowflake.
    💡 You can click the plus sign at the right of the

    block to add more empty boxes.
